About Pilasa
Pilasa began as a simple idea — to move with precision and presence. What started as a personal exploration into Pilates and Vinyasa yoga evolved into a complete movement practice focused on mindful strength, stability, and self-connection.
Where It All Began
From the time I could walk, I was dancing. Ballet became my language of expression — a way to move through emotion and find stillness through motion. By my teenage years, I was traveling with my dance company to New York City, where I was introduced to the discipline of Pilates, or “Contrology,” as it was called then. Its methodical focus on alignment and core control resonated deeply, and it soon became an essential part of my training.
Teaching found me early, too. At fourteen, I began assisting my dance instructors, guiding younger students through movement sequences. Those Saturday mornings sparked something I couldn’t ignore — the joy of helping others find confidence in their bodies.
Discovering Yoga
In my late teens, a coworker suggested yoga to help manage stress. My first class felt unfamiliar and uncomfortable — but something within it stuck. The quieting of the mind. The connection to breath. Over time, through home practice and self-study, I discovered the grounding, non-competitive nature of yoga. It became less about performing and more about listening.
Yoga taught me that belonging isn’t about fitting a mold — it’s about being fully present in your own experience. That understanding changed the way I approached all movement.
Creating the Pilasa Practice
In my twenties, I began merging the technical precision of Pilates with the fluidity and breathwork of Vinyasa yoga. The result was a balanced, moderate-intensity practice that felt strong yet mindful — both grounding and freeing.
Over the years, I’ve earned multiple international certifications in the Pilates method and deepened my yoga education through continued practice and teaching. In 2022, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). My academic journey began in Exercise Science, transitioned into Education, and later into Business Marketing and Information Technology — giving me a unique blend of structure, creativity, and strategic insight that shapes how Pilasa is designed and taught. As an innovator and lifelong learner, I plan to continue expanding my expertise through advanced Pilates training and a 500-hour YTT in the coming years.
Pilasa is the culmination of decades of movement experience. It’s for those who want to move with control, strength, and authenticity — to feel capable, centered, and awake in their own bodies.
